Background

The power plant has been in operation for many years, and the existing control system is old, with problems such as incomplete equipment monitoring, delayed data collection, and difficulty in system integration.
The market demand for power automation and intelligence is constantly increasing, and there is an urgent need to improve the overall operating efficiency and safety of power plants.

Project Objectives

ABB's "ABB Ability™ System 800xA" system was introduced to achieve intelligent upgrades of the power plant control system. The integration between subsystems was improved, and the equipment status was fully tracked through real-time data monitoring and fault prediction. The safety, reliability and scalability of the system were improved to ensure that the modified system met the latest international power plant safety standards and environmental protection requirements.

Technical solutions and system architecture

  • Core product selection
Introducing ABB's "ABB Ability™ System 800xA" to create an integrated solution for distributed control systems (DCS) and equipment integration.
  • System architecture design
Adopting a layered architecture model, field equipment, monitoring systems and data centers are effectively separated and connected. Real-time communication and data transmission of each module are achieved through industrial Ethernet and secure private networks to ensure data consistency and security throughout the plant.
  • Data acquisition and monitoring
Using the system's built-in high-precision acquisition module, real-time data acquisition of key equipment such as generators, transformers, and circuit breakers is achieved. Build a centralized monitoring platform to achieve multi-dimensional data display, alarm processing and historical data archiving.
  • System redundancy and fault tolerance
Design dual-machine hot standby and multi-channel redundancy mechanisms to ensure that when the main system fails, the backup system can quickly take over to ensure continuous operation.

System integration and interoperability requirements

  • Multi-system compatibility
Ensure that the newly introduced "ABB Ability™ System 800xA" can be interconnected with the existing SCADA system, PLC and other equipment in the power plant. Develop standardized interface protocols to achieve cross-system data sharing and business collaboration.
  • Real-time data synchronization
Establish a data center to achieve centralized storage, management and real-time scheduling of data from all systems in the plant. Plan data backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure that key data is not lost and support rapid recovery.
  • Equipment monitoring and remote control
Remote monitoring and centralized management of on-site equipment are achieved through the integration of smart sensors and video monitoring equipment. Support remote fault diagnosis and equipment pre-maintenance to ensure efficient and continuous operation of the system.
